What happened: ME AN MY BEST FRIEND TOOK A TRIP TO THE AREA TO DO SOME CATFISHING, MY DAD HAD AQUIRED THE LAND FROM MY GRANDFATHER. SO IT HAD BEEN IN THE FAMILY FOR QUITE A WHILE. STARTING IN ABOUT 1990 I HAD STARTED TO SPEND EVERY WEEKEND I COULD DOWN THERE, SO I HAD GOT REAL FAMILIAR WITH MY SURROUNDINGS, WILDLIFE, DAY SOUNDS, NIGHT SOUNDS. I HAD GOT SO COMFORTABLE WITH IT ALL THAT, MY DAD WOULD DROP ME OFF EVERY FRIDAY AND PICK ME UP EVERY SUNDAY. FROM THE TIMEFRAME FROM 1990 UP UNTIL MY 1992 ENCOUNTER, I HAD NOT HAD ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY HAPPEN, OTHER THAN MY GIRLFRIEND {WIFE NOW} HAD SOMETHING STALK HER ALONG THE TREELINE ONE NIGHT. SHE TOOK OFF WALKING DOWN THE ROAD BECAUSE SHE WAS PISSED AT ME. SHE HAD TOLD ME LATER THAT SHE ALWAYS FELT THAT SOMETHING WAS WATCHING HER.

MY OWN MOM JUST TOLD MY WIFE THAT WHEN HER AND MY SISTER WOULD CAMP DOWN THERE IN THE CABIN THERE WERE A FEW TIMES THEY WOULD HEAR SOMETHING HEAVY FOOTED CAUSING A LOT OF COMMOTION, TO THE POINT THAT THEY WERE TERRIFIED TO GET UP AND LOOK TO SEE WHAT IT WAS. AT THAT TIME I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING GOING ON.

MY ENCOUNTER STARTED WHEN ME AND MY BEST FRIEND WENT FISHING, THE CAMP SAT UP ON THE TOP OF A RAVINE, SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO WALK DOWN THE RAVINE TO THE RIVER ITSELF. WE RIGGED OUR POLES UP, HE WENT UP THE RIVER ABOUT 35 YARDS FROM ME AND SET UP. ACROSS FROM HIM THERE WAS A SHALLOW SAND BAR ABOUT 1 FOOT DEEP AND ABOUT 30 YARDS ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE. WE WERE JUST SITTING THERE FISHING, IT HADN'T BEEN BUT ABOUT AN HOUR THAT OUT OF NOWHERE ACROSS FROM THE OTHER SIDE IT SOUNDED LIKE A 18 WHEELER COME CRASHING THROUGH THE WOODS. LIKE IT HAD JUST BEEN THERE WATCHING US AND OUT OF NOWHERE IT JUMPED UP AND CHARGED US. YOU COULD ACTUALLY HEAR BIG BRANCHES JUST POPPING LIKE GUNFIRE GOING OFF, IT WAS COMING HARD AND FAST AND IT WASN'T GOING TO STOP.

UP THE RIVER, ABOUT 10 YARDS UP FROM MY FRIEND, ITS ABOUT A 6 FT DROP ON THE OTHER SIDE. FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS IT WAS AIRBORNE, THEN YOU HEARD THE LOUDEST SPLASH EVER. HE ACTUALLY TOLD ME LATER THAT HE HEARD THIS THING GROWLING, GROANING AS IT MADE ITS WAY ONTO THE SANDBAR, AT THIS TIME WE WERE CLIMBING THE RAVINE HEADED TO THE CAMP WE BOTH COULD HEAR THIS CREATURE WALKING ON THE SANDBAR ON THE OTHER SIDE. WHAT CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION WAS THAT WE NOTICED, WHATEVER IT WAS, WAS ON TWO FEET BECAUSE WHEN IT WALKED ITS FEET WOULD ACTUALLY COME ABOVE THE WATER AND SPLASH BACK DOWN. IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER NATIVE WILDLIFE THE FEET AND LEGS WOULD "SWOOSH" THROUGH THE WATER, BEING THAT THE 1FT OR MORE OF WATER IS TOO DEEP FOR ANY OTHER ANIMAL TO BE ABLE TO PICK ITS FEET ABOVE THE WATER.

NOT ONLY WAS THE WATER TOO DEEP, BUT THE SPLASH THIS THING MADE WHEN IT STEPPED WAS LOUD. SO WE HIGHTAILED IT UP TO CAMP, CLIMBED ON TOP OF THE CABIN WITH OUR 22 RIFLE'S AT THE READY WAITING FOR WHATEVER THIS THING WAS TO CREST THE RAVINE TOP 30 YARDS AWAY TO UN-LOAD ON IT. IT WASN'T UNTIL LATER MY FRIEND MADE THE COMMENT THAT I SAID I WAS GOING TO SHOOT THE THING IN THE EYE'S IF IT CAME AFTER US. WE WAITED ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THEN WE HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE EITHER GIGANTIC ROCK'S OR BIG LOG'S BEING THROWN INTO THE RIVER, THESE SPLASHES WERE LOUD. THAT WENT ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEN IT QUIT SUDDENLY AND THAT WAS IT.

AT THAT TIME I WAS FEARLESS OF THAT PLACE, BUT AFTER THAT ENCOUNTER I NEVER WENT DOWN THERE AGAIN ALONE. AT THAT TIME I HAD NEVER HEARD OF BIGFOOT, IT WASN'T UNTIL I WAS BABYSITTING MY STEPBROTHER WHILE MY DAD AND STEPMOM WENT THERE TO CAMP THAT I WENT TO RENT SOME MOVIES TO WATCH. IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT I RENTED A MOVIE TYPE DOCUMENTARY CALLED "APE CANYON" ABOUT SOME PEOPLE WHO GET STALKED BY A CREATURE IN THE WOODS AND GET ATTACKED THAT EVENING BY THESE CREATURES THROWING HUGE ROCKS AT THESE PEOPLE IN THE CABIN ATTEMPTING TO TRY TO RUN THEM OFF I GUESS TO GET THEM OUT OF A SPECIFC AREA. AS SOON AS I SEEN THAT MOVIE MY ENCOUTER CAME TO LIGHT, I SOMEHOW KNEW THAT THIS WAS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME, JUST A FEW THINGS WERE DIFFERENT.

THIS CREATURE CHARGED US TO RUN US OFF AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO THROW ROCK'S OR LOG'S AT US. WE NEVER SAW THE CREATURE, BUT I DO KNOW THAT THERE IS NO NATIVE WILDLIFE THAT IS CAPABLE OF DOING ANY OF THIS THAT I HAVE DESCRIBED.

Investigator Report:

After contacting the witness, one of our investigators agreed to meet him at the property where the above incident took place. His family had sold the property some years ago to a family acquaintance, whom came out to speak with the witness and our investigator regarding the incidents related above. The current property owner did not report anything unusual since he had owned the property, however, he did invite us to come out and setup a camp on the property at a future date of our choosing. We took him up on his offer on the weekend of September 11th-12th, 2009. Investigators arrived on Friday 11th, starting setting up around 16:30hrs, we were joined on the property by the witness, his wife and son around 10PM, in all we had 8 people setup in a base camp on the Anderson County side of the river. This weekend featured quite a bit of rain and it did affect our attempts to record audio for several hours each night we were onsite. Before the rain started on Friday night we tried a few wood knocks and received some distant replies. After a couple of call broadcasts the rain started in and we tried to wait it out, but eventually called it a night at 0130hrs on Saturday morning. It would later be revealed that one of the audio recorders captured something in the river not far from base camp at 22:13hrs, this coincided with the arrival time of the witness and his family. The rest of the team had gone up to assist them with bringing their gear down from their vehicle to the base camp, the river crossing that you hear in the audio was thus not heard by anyone in the research party at the time. This audio can be found below.

For Saturday we crossed the river and deployed game camera's along with baited audio recorders along a 3/4 mile stretch of river. In addition, we had the usual array of recorders going outside of base camp, again we tried the same protocol of the previous night starting with wood knocks and later trying some calls, rain moved in again starting around 21:30 hours and continued until 01:00hrs on Sunday morning. After the rain had subsided we tried some additional wood knocks and manual calls but were unable to detect any replies and eventually we called it a night at 02:00hrs. At 04:47hrs Sunday morning 3 members were awake in their tents when a close range wood knock was heard just outside of base camp. The recorders did capture this event and the audio of this is listed below. On later examination we discovered another wood knock at one of the remote recorder locations on the Cherokee side of the river which was recorded at 03:00hrs Sunday morning. It did not surprise us in the least that we were able to get some activity in this area as the few miles north and south of this location have been a source of sightings since at least the early 80's. The above mentioned audio as well as a couple pictures of the area are provided below.
